Update: Summer Movies

I cannot believe that July is pretty much over. Monday is August first! Whoa! Crazy! I haven't gotten to as many movies I would have liked, but I have seen some.  Here's an update on the movies I have seen so far this summer.

Me Before You
This was such a tear jerker. I knew it would be. It was really good though. I thought is was wonderfully cast. The only complaint that I have is that they didn't portray in the film exactly how much pain Will was in. The book did that much better and also was more detailed about his suicide attempt. That was just sort of glossed over in the movie when they showed us the scars on his wrists.  Other than that, I recommend it if you're looking for a love story and a few tears.

Free State of Jones
I will not be surprised to see Matthew McConaughey receive and Oscar nomination for his role in this movie. It was fantastic! I don't have a bad thing to say about this movie. I was sucked in from the very beginning. It was over two hours, but to me it didn't feel that way.

Independence Day: Resurgence
I was disappointed with this one. It was basically the same movie from 20 years ago with a slightly different cast (people died and moved on...story line that is). I did like how we got to see the President's daughter as well as Will Smith's character's son all grown up (different actors). It was just okay, though.

Finding Dory
This was FANTASTIC! I loved every bit of this movie. Ellen is so wonderful as Dory. This is a great movie for the whole family!

Star Trek: Beyond
I like it, but not as much as the first two reboots. I love Chris Pine and have no problem looking at him for two hours. I would Redbox or Netflix this one though.

This weekend Jason Bourne comes out in theaters and I'm absolutely seeing it at some point.  Next weekend is Suicide Squad and I can't wait for that one!!!!! I'll probably end up renting the remaining movies above. If The Secret Life of Pets stays in theaters long enough I might get to it.

What movies have you seen lately?
