In 2015 I Will Be Brave & I Will Roar

Friday I wrote about texting and dating. Yesterday I wrote about being single. Here's another post along similar lines. I guess these kinds of things have been on my mind a lot lately.  Over the weekend I created my first Vision Board for 2015. Some of my previous goals, like paying off my credit card debt and hitting my goal weight, are on there again. However, this time I have put dates on there to be more specific about those particular goals. I've also put some key words/phrases on there ~

ENERGY | BRAVE | BREATHE | CONFIDENCE | LET IT GO | VALUES | PRETTY
TAKE CARE OF ME | I COME FIRST | TAKE TIME FOR MYSELF

Usually there's a pretty diamond ring on there from Tiffany & Co. or Harry Winston, but not this time (that will all come in good time). 2014 was a challenging year for me. One thing that made it challenging was someone I dated over the summer. He made me question a lot about myself and how I am in a relationship.  The experience took me back to previous relationships and I realized that I allowed myself to slip into a pattern.  A pattern I knew I had to break.

I need to take care of Erica. As long as I take care of me, then everything else will fall into place.

I'm not swearing off guys or dating or anything like that. I just need to remind myself that I am important too. I tend to put so much of myself into the relationship that I forget about me. I'm so consumed with making it work and making sure the other person is happy, that I forget about making sure that I'm happy too. Thank the Lord that there is awesome music out there with amazing lyrics.

Katy over at The Girl & The Good wrote a post about her word for the year. She had a word last year and a new one for 2015. I really liked the idea of it. It was tough for me to come up with a word, but my dear friends Sara Bareilles and Katy Perry helped me out a great deal.

Sara's song Brave is just fantastic. I love the lyrics ~  Say what you wanna to say and let the words fall out. Honestly, I wanna see you be Brave - With what you wanna say and let the words fall out. Honestly, I wanna see you be Brave.
Everybody's been there, Everybody's been stared down by the enemy. Fallen for the fear and done some disappearing, bow down to the mighty. Don't run, just stop holding your tongue. Maybe there's a way out of the cage where you live.  Maybe one of these days you can let the light in and show me how big your Brave is.
That's something else about me. I'm so bad about talking about how I feel. I need to work on that.

There's also Katy Perry and  I love this girl. She basically rocks my world and I have a huge girl crush on her. I can relate to so many of the lyrics. Because of her I know that I'm a Firework.  Her song Roar is totally my anthem.  Roar really does define how I feel about where I've been and where I feel that I am now.

When I hear the word Roar I think of:
Strong
Brave
Confident
Adventure
Courage
Anything is Possible

In 2015 I Will
Be Brave & I Will Roar

I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath.
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess, so I sat quietly, agreed politely.
I guess that I forgot I had a choice. I let you push my past the breaking point.
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything.

You held me down, but I got up. Already brushing off the dust.
You hear my voice, you hear that sound, Like thunder gonna shake the ground.
You held me down, but I got up. Get ready 'cause I've had enough.
I see it all, I see it now...

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire.
'Cause I am a champion and you're gonna hear me roar!
Louder, Louder than a lion.
'Cause I am a champion and you're gonna hear me roar!

Now I'm floating like a butterfly. Stinging like a bee I've earned my stripes.
I went from zero, to my own hero.

You're gonna hear me ROAR!

What's your anthem/mantra or word for 2015? Anyone that's inspiring you right now?
