What I'd Like to Wear Wednesday

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

If you read my blog, you know that I'm not a very fashionable blogger :)  I try taking full body selfies by using the timer on my camera, but they always come out funny looking.  So, I thought I would pull some of my favorite outfits that I've found on Pinterest and share them with you.  I start with the colder weather outfits and move on to some spring and summer.  Hopefully this will inspire the weather to get warmer!  One can hope!

This is totally my outfit right now with all of the cold and snow!  This sweater looks sooooo comfy!  I have my own "grandpa" sweater that I got at Target and I wear it around the apartment all the time.  I have slippers, also from Target, and they are so warm and fuzzy.

I could definitely see myself wearing this either around town or even on a casual night out.  I love jeans!

I love this outfit.  As the weather gets warmer (and hopefully soon...I'm over this cold and snow) This really cute and stylish jacket over the white button down is so sleek.  Throw in the leopard flats and pop of color in the bracelet and we're off!

I love this color! I need to learn out to use scarves as an accessory!

This outfit is PERFECT for me on a night out with the girls or even on a date!  The pink top and jacket and those heels!  LOVE IT!

Oh summer, will you arrive sooner rather than later?  I've got summer on the brain, because I'm very much looking forward to visiting one of my best friends in Atlanta.  This outfit would be perfect for that Atlanta weather!

How about you?  What's your "keep warm" outfit?  What kind of clothes are you looking forward to for spring and summer?

Hello and happy Tuesday.  I'm writing the Monday night (yesterday) and I have a really really bad headache :(  I've been getting them a lot more frequently than I ever used to, so I might need to go to the doctor and figure this out.  Anywhoo, I thought I would share some movie trailers with you.  Below are 3 movies that I can't wait for.  They are going to be awesome :)

Enjoy!

My First Paleo Entree!

You all know how I feel about my weight and getting it down to where I want it to be.  I've been thinking and thinking and then I heard of this thing called a Paleo Diet.  I took myself to Barnes & Noble and drifted into the food/diet section.  A lot of books were only full of recipes. I needed information!  I found this book, below, and it is a great book.  The first half is all info and then there are tons of recipes. Some people that I've talked to about this diet lifestyle think they don't have time for it.
The recipes in this book are quick to make.

The first recipe I tried was the Turmeric and Black Pepper Chicken with Rainbow Veg.
It is delicious and super easy to make.  It took me less than 10 minutes to put together and then just 30 minutes in the oven.  Here's how I made it . . .

Here's my Organic Free Range Chicken.
Something I am trying to do is go as Organic as possible.  For me, that is really the hardest part.  It's expensive.  I spent the most at Trader Joe's than I ever have before.  But, it's better for me!
At the store this weekend I spent over $60 on just organic veggies/fruit/meat.
***CRAZY***

To start off, you want to put the oven at 350 degrees.

1 tbsp of butter (I use Smart Balance, because it's lactose free)
2 Chicken Breasts or 4 Chicken Wings
1 tbsp of Tumeric
1 tsp of black pepper

Melt the butter and combine it with the turmeric and the pepper.  It's should have the substance of a sauce.

You want to coat the chicken with the sauce.
I basically soaked the chicken with it!  Every inch :)
Put the oven in the chicken for 20 - 30 minutes.  With my oven I need 30 minutes.  This is how the chicken looks when it's all done!

The chicken was pretty big, so I ate 1/2 of one.  I had my own steamed veggies and brown rice, so I ate those with dinner instead of making the Rainbow Veg.

It was super yummy and I will definitely be making this again. I basically have enough for 4 meals.

I wonder what meal I'll pick next time!

Have a great day :)

TGIF!

It has been a very busy week!  How about you?  Did you have a good week?  I hope so!  Let's get this party started.  I've got lots to share with you today.

{one} if you've been following my INSTAGRAM then you probably know most of this :)  When I went home last weekend I got my hair cut!  I really just wanted my sweep bangs back.  I love it!  I thought it was too short at first, but I totally love it now!

{two}  Saturday evening we all went to the rock climbing gym in downtown Roanoke.  Mom and Jacob did most of everything and I chose to just boulder.  Jacob is a great climber!  See how high he is??? CRAZY!
After climbing we went to this awesome little dive restaurant in downtown called Jack Browns.  They really do have the best hamburgers ever!  I ordered The Cowboy - hamburger with cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, and bbq sauce.  It was delicious.  Oh, and they have a disco ball in the middle of the room with bras hanging from it!

{three}  On Monday I BOUGHT A CAR!!!! My Mazda was tired and I was ready for a new car.  Her name is Penelope (i know i've talked about her a lot this week) and I lover her!

{four} I have planned my Vacation! I'm going to Atlanta to visit my fabulous friend Stephanie. There's the Coca-Cola Factory, maybe a Braves game, and quality time with one of my best friends!  It will be almost two years since we've seen each other. She has two beautiful little boys now and I can't wait to see her!

{five} I just finished reading a book called Paleo Primer. It's really informative about the paleo diet (eating like a cave man).  I'm going to try it.  I have to go major grocery shopping this weekend.  My fridge is so empty!

I hope everyone has a great Friday and a even greater weekend!

My 300th Post and 2 Songs I'm Loving right now!

I cannot believe that I have written 300 posts about what's going on in my life! Crazy!
Today is going to be another cold day with snow scattered through out.  I hope everyone getting this weather stays warm.

I'm not going to lie, I had no idea what to write about.  Go figure!  I have a milestone post and my mind is completely blank!  Over the past few weeks I have been "obsessed" with two songs in particular ~

I didn't like this song at first.  I thought I was "over" Britney.  Then I Believe in Story posted THIS and I realized how silly I've been.  Britney is a pop genius! The lyrics in Work B**ch are really very true.  If you want to party in France, you need to work for it.  If you want to look hot in a bikini (my favorite line), then you need to work for it!  Here's the video - please enjoy - you're welcome :)

Then there are these guys . . .

Yes, that is One Direction.  They are actually really talented! When I went home one weekend my mom had taped a Ryan Seacrest special where he was interviewing the band and they would perform songs from their new album Midnight Memories.  They started playing Story of My Life.  I had heard this song on the radio and really liked it, but had no idea that it was One Direction. In this video they use their actual family and family photos.  It's really creative. Take a look ~

Have a great day!

Penelope & A Snow Day

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know what my big news is from the weekend home...

Say hello to Penelope!

I love her :)  She's fantastic and I love her!  Well, Penelope got to experience her first snow day here in Washington, D.C.

I woke up this morning expecting to see snow, because that's what the weather forecast was.  Well, it was just a plain old parking lot and it was 38* outside.  I checked online and saw that the Federal Government and pretty much every school in Northern VA (except some in Arlington, sorry Erika D!) were closed.  I posted on Facebook just moments later: This is why, after living in Boston, I laugh at Virginia ~ it's 38* outside with no rain and no snow, yet EVERYTHING IS CLOSED! Silly government!

I knew that my work was open.  It's a hotel. We are always open!  So, I got ready as usual and bundled up expecting snow to come later.

Finally around 10:30am we started seeing flurries.  Then the snow really started coming down.  It was windy and crazy.  In order to get into our garage at work, you have to go down a decent decline.  There was a delivery van that had a lot of trouble getting back up today.  It kept sliding down and into the wall.  A co-worker of mine had to leave property and as she was leaving her car was slipping on the way up.  When she got back she parked on the street, so I decided to do the same.  Then I thought about driving a new car in the snow in the dark.  When I usually leave work it's already dark outside, so I left a little early.

When I got back to Penelope she looked like this ~

On my drive home I realized how empty D.C. was.  Dad - I promise that I was at a Red Stop Light when I took these pictures!

It is crazy how quiet the city is when it's like this at 4pm on a Tuesday!

Franklin Square on 14th Street.  Just covered in snow.  It looks really peaceful!

I'm glad I left when I did, because the road was actually pretty slippery. I made sure to be very careful driving Penelope through my apartment's parking lot.  I backed her into a spot sort of far away, but not too far for in the morning!
It's so gloomy outside!  I got up to my apartment and turned my heat up and took a hot shower.  It's a crazy looking sky out there!

I hope you all enjoyed the snow day no matter how you spent it!
It's supposed to snow again on Thursday, so button up!

It's Friday Friday!

Okay, enough of that! HaHa!  I hope you all had a wonderful week.  I know that I did :)  I just want to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT OF LOVE TO MY NEW FOLLOWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Facebook: 60 to 169 followers
Twitter: 176 to 299 follwers...1 more to hit 300!
Bloglovin: 101 to 204

Let's get on with the show!

{one}
On Tuesday I got to attend my first Washington Capitals game.  It was also my first time in the Verizon Center!  It was so much fuuuun!!!!!!!!  The Caps lost to the San Jose Sharks in a Shoot Out, but it was a great time with my work crew!

{two}
According to Target it's already Valentine's Day.  They are going crazy with pink and love stuff.  I'm not going to lie, there are a few of these things I would like.  The Winnie the Pooh stuff is super cute.  "The Perfect Man" is pretty clever.  Sweet and decadently rich!

{three}
FINALLY!  After months of it being talked about at work I finally  have new office furniture.  My college, N, will be moving into my office with me and I'll have a buddy!  I have my little cubby and my bacon calendar hung up (thanks again Jacob).  When I get back to work next week I'm going to be the most production that I've ever been!

{four}

After work yesterday, with moving all of the furniture and majorly cleaning, my hands felt in need of being pampered!  On my way home from work yesterday I stopped in Del Ray for a manicure.
It's amazing what a manicure can do for a lady!

{five}
I had a GREAT eyebrow day yesterday, so I had to share!
I'm also hoping that this is the last ponytail I wear in a little while. I'm getting a haircut that I desperately fell in need of on Saturday.  I can't wait!

I hope everyone has a great Friday and a even greater weekend!

Fashion and the Oscars

Fashion and the Oscars?  YEAH BABY!

With the Oscar Awards just around the corner, I start thinking about the fashion and the dresses and then I start thinking about the studly men!  Valerie from Paul Fredrick reached out to me and asked if I would help with their Spring Launch.  She sent me the link to the line and it is beautiful.  Now ladies, before you clicking away, this is fashion for me.

I'm writing this Wednesday night before the Oscar Nominations were announced, so I'm guessing that the three fabulous men below are nominated for Best Actor Awards.

Do you remember A Time To Kill?  With his southern drawl and scruffiness I can totally see him in this dress shirt with a tie and matching suspenders.

To me, Tom Hanks is a classic kinda guy.  He made his television debut in 1980 on The Love Boat.  He has had a 34 year career with some amazing work.  With Tom's blue eyes, this shirt and tie combo would look so great on him!

You all know how I feel about Leonardo DiCaprio.  I heart him like crazy!  Romeo & Juliet, Titanic, Catch Me If You Can, The Departed, Blood Diamond, Marvin's Room, I could really keep listing movies that I love!  We usually see him in blues and blacks, but I think this purple tie would look amazing on him (Left).  Even the green tie in this picture looks awesome on him. I also think the Right picture with the three pairs would look great on Leo and any stylish man.
Leo's Purple Tie
Great lot for Leo and any man with some style

If a man in your life has birthday, anniversary, special event, big interview or work meeting coming up, then think about surprising him with something new and shiny to wear.  Or if he's just not into fashion at all and needs some fashion assistance, definitely check out Paul Fredrick.  The have a SALE going on right now where some of the shirts are 3 for $159. They don't have only dress shirts, but tons of items on their website.  You'll find suits, ties, pants, sports wear, sweaters, outterwear, and for the really tall men they have Big & Tall.  Don't just take my word for it, go check it out for yourself!

A Day in the Life...

Don't forget about the Kate Spade Give Away! You have 4 days left to enter.
You know you want that $300 Gift Card!

I did this post last week that was part of My Jolly Little Life's January blogathon.  Today's topic is "A Day in the Life of Me."  I hope you're ready for my craaaaazy life! I'm writing this on Tuesday, January 14th, so I'm going to just write as I go today.  Today happens to be pretty busy, because I have a group in house at the hotel.  Are you ready?  Here we go!!!!!

5:30am ~ alarm goes off.  i have to be at work early today (7:30am), because it's NASA's first day of meetings

7:00am ~ i leave for work.  it's super dreary, rainy, and still dark outside
7:30am ~ i arrive at work.  once i get to my office i create and print out reader boards for the group.  i go around to the different meeting rooms and place the readers inside.
8:00am ~ of course the group's onsite contact, P, then let's me know that she changed the rooms around for the panels and i have to create new ones now.
9:00am-ish ~ P let's me know that she needs a telephone is their support suite meeting room.  the engineer that is working today isn't as familiar with the property, so it takes him a 1/2 hour to find a phone and bring it to the room.
9:30am ~ the phone isn't working!  P can call out, but cannot receive calls in.  this is fixed by 12:30pm :)
10:30am ~ another group (sleeping rooms only), we'll call them Z, starts arriving.  my front office team is fabulous and have made sure they are prepped for the group's arrival.
11:00am ~ Z asks for hot water. we bring him hot water.  no, he wants water in an electric kettle.  we go to cvs and get him one.  now he needs honey, coffee cups, lemons, a knife, a microwave and fridge!!!!!!
11:15am ~ i call Z myself to see what else he needed and to let him know that we were unaware of his needs.  he comes back and says, "it's not like you didn't know."  well, Z, we didn't know. your manager didnt' tell us!  my team was awesome and has gotten EVERYTHING requested.  Z is calm now.

11:30am ~ the NASA group has lunch on property each day this week.  the chef that was supposed to cook lunch didn't show up to cook! the kitchen is hustling around and trying to get lunch ready on time.  however, they don't have time to make salsa verde and they are out of olives! eek!  i make a quick run to whole foods and pick up some of the needed supplies.  i love whole foods :)

12:30pm ~ lunch time for erica! i had a turkey sandwich and an apple with my diet coke for lunch.
1:00 - 4:45pm ~ desk work desk work desk work!
4:45pm ~ Tonight is the manager's outing with work, so I gotta put my "face" on.  It only takes a few minutes.  The Helix's Director of Housekeeping and I are heading over to China Town together to meet the gang at RFD bar.  It took a lot longer to get there than I thought it would.
6:00pm ~ We arrive at RFD :)  We left Helix around 5:15 and parked at the Verizon Center and walked up to RFD.  We were there with the group until about 6:30pm and then walked back over the VC for the game
6:45pm ~ We get to the Luxury Box and our Suite.  It was AWESOME!
The Helix Crew
The Capitals did not win...the Sharks won by a single point!  It was tied 1-1 and they went into overtime.  No one scored in overtime and it lead to a SHOOT OUT!  That's where we lost.  The Sharks one the shoot out by 1 point!  There was chicken wings, hot dogs, mac and cheese, and all kinds of snacks!  Itw as definitely a good time.
10:00pm ~ the game ended and it was time to go home. It was tough to get a cab.  I ended up walking from the Verizon Center to 14th & K street.  If you're not familiar with DC, that's a really long walk!
11:00pm ~ I get home to my lovely apartment and am exhausted.  Remember, I started my day at 5:30 this morning!  I took a hot shower and washed my auburn locks and got into bed
11:40pm ~ Bed feels soooo good!

High Lights from the Golden Globes

Happy Monday! Did everyone watch the Golden Globes last night? I did and I loved almost all if it!  Here are some recaps of my favorite categories...all movies!

Jennifer Lawrence took home the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for American Hustle.

Jared Leto won Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Dallas Buyers Club. He was simply amazing in this film!

Amy Adams won for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for American Hustle.

Cate Blanchet won Best Actress in a Drama for Blue Jasmine.  I haven't seen it yet, but it's pretty star packed.

*****LEO WON*****
Best Actor in a Musical/Comedy
I haven't seen The Wolf of Wall Street, so now I'm going to HAVE TO! I'm so excited, because he really is a fantastic actor!

****MATT MCCONAUGHEY WON TOO*****
I am so glad that he won Best Actor in a Drama for Dallas Buyers Club, because this movie was AMAZING!

American Hustle won Best Picture for Comedy/Musical.
It was okay, but out of the other nominees this was the only one I had seen.

12 Years a Slave won for Best Drama.  I haven't seen this one yet either, so that's 3 movies I need to see before the Oscars.

Frozen took home the award for Best Animated Film.
Olaf (the snowman for those of you who haven't seen it) must be so happy :-)

~ Here are some other categories of the winners that I loved ~

House of Cards only took home 1 award - Best Actress in a TV Drama for Robin Wright.  Who, in case you didn't know, is engaged to Ben Foster...what!?!?!?!?

I wanted Kevin Spacey to win Best Actor, but that guy from Breaking Bad won.  Grrr!
Breaking Bad also took home Best TV Drama
Amy Poehler won for Best TV Actress in a Comedy and made out with Bono!
Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron won for Best Director
The winner for Best TV Comedy was Brooklyn Nine-Nine.  I haven't seen this show, so I'm not sure about it's win.  I'll watch an episode on Hulu and see how I feel.
Michael Douglas won Best Actor in a TV Movie for Behind the Candelabra.
Best Screenplay went to Her

The Academy Award Nominations (aka...The Oscar Nominations) are announced this Thursday.  It's going to be a tough year, because how can I possibly choose between Leo and Matt?  I'll have to go see 3 hours of the F word to find out! Yes, the use the F word in The Wolf of Wall Street 506 times.  I'll bring my earmuffs!

Oh, and the Oscars air on March 2nd with Ellen Degeneres hosting!
