St. Nicholas Day

Have you heard of St. Nicholas Day? My family has been celebrating every since I could remember!  In Germany, children put a shoe outside their bedroom doors on the eve of Saint Nicholas Day and hope to find candy, coins and maybe a small gift in them.  In the Netherlands, children put their shoes in front of their chimneys in hopes of finding chocolate or a small toy in their shoe when they wake.

In some countries St. Nicholas Day is when Santa comes and delivers the presents. The way that my family has always celebrated it was a little different.  Two of Santa's elves, Pixie & Trixie, are the ones who come to drop off little presents from Santa. It's a little hello to let us know if we're on Santa's nice or naughty list.
Ever since I was a little girl my brother and I would put our shoes outside, the night of December 5th, in hopes of receiving little presents the next day. We still do it every year. Even when I didn't live at home anymore we got special deliveries just in time for December 6th, St. Nicholas Day. I must be on Santa's good list, because I got some great stuff this year!

Pixie & Trixie brought me snowman poop (because apparently I've been naughty) and some rockin' new pajamas. The snowman poop is super tasty and the jammies are so comfy! I've got them on right now.

Not only did Pixie & Trixie stop by, but my secret santa got here just in time too! I participated in a Secret Santa with The Broke & The Bookish and my package came Saturday afternoon. My secret Santa is Maren from The Worn Bookmark. I love everything she got me. Check it out!
She wrapped everything up so nicely :) I loved it all!

Maren got me Beautiful Ruins & One Thousand White Women. These two books I've really looking forward to reading. Maren was excited to hear that I will be getting a cat (or two) in the spring, so she sent me some cat toys that her own cats go crazy over. Now I really am a cat lady. I have cat toys, but no cats! Haha! I love the journal she got me too!

I had a wonderful St. Nicholas Day! Only 17 more days until Christmas!

Don't forget to check out my guest post on September Farm (here) and a chance to win a $50 Target Gift Card, just in time for Christmas!
