Like A Tourist: Botanical Gardens

Happy Tuesday and Welcome to August! We are in my birthday month and fall is approaching. I'm starting to check things off of my Washington, DC Bucket List like crazy.  A couple weeks ago a friend of mine and I went to the Botanical Gardens.  Please note that I didn't alter the color in any of the photographs below. The plants and flowers were simply amazing and needed no adjustment or boost what so ever!  Check it out . . .

The Botanical Gardens are right near the Capitol Building.  Some amazing views of the Capitol ~

The garden area outside was fantastic and so beautiful.  Inside was even more amazing.  The place was huge.  The "Jungle" is what you're seeing in this picture above. There were so many different areas inside the Conservatory.  We went to the Desert, Hawaii, the Jungle... We saw Orchids and Medicinal Plants. It was so fantastic to see.

Before you walk into the conservatory itself there is the First Lady's Water Garden around the side of the building.  The detail put into every aspect of the Gardens was perfection.  There is this beautiful fountain area with tables and chairs where you can sit and relax.  As you walk around some pathways there are rose gardens and streams.  There are a few stream areas like this one below. We saw little birdies bathing. They were so cute!

The first area of the building is the Canopy ~ Such beautiful flowers in the Canopy area.  I loved the Pineapple Lilly Aloha Leia.

From the Canopy you can loop around.  We started at the Desert.  There were lots of crazy looking cacti and see if you can spot the dinosaur!

One of my favorite parts was the Medicinal Plant section. No, there wasn't any cannabis :) We joked about that! haha!  There were tons of Aloe Vera, Coffee, Mint plants, Cinnamon, Pineapple, Strawberries... So many things that I didn't think were medicinal.  Who knew that a pineapple plant was so cute (below)! If only I liked pineapple.

I loved this next one ~ a Happy Tree

Marina's favorite part was the Orchid section ~

This is my favorite orchid flower. I just love the colors.

Finally we ventured into The Jungle ~

This picture makes me feel like I was in Jurassic Park!

If you're ever in Washington, DC, I highly recommend visiting the Botanical Garden Conservatory. It was amazing!  I hope you enjoyed it. Have a fabulous day!
