H54F ~ Vacation Wrap Up

Happy Friday everyone :) I'm officially back in the real world, work and all, but vacation was great.  I took soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many pictures while out of town, so I did the best recap that I could. I drove from DC to Roanoke ~ Roanoke to Atlanta - three different cities w/in Atlanta ~ Atlanta to Charlotte, NC ~ Thanks mom for driving from Charlotte to Roanoke ~ Roanoke back to DC! Lots of driving, lots of friends, lots of fun! I hope you enjoy!

~ Good ole Roanoke! I headed home first. I enjoy going home to Roanoke, because I get to see my awesome parents and stroll around the cute downtown area.  The weekend I was home the Local Colors Festival was going on.  There's is a fabulous small outdoor arena that was just redone.  There is a great stage and seating for hundreds of people.  The Local Colors festival highlights the ethnic and cultural diversity of the Roanoke area.  I was able to sit down with my fabulous friend Jessica (she blogs over at Just Rainbows & Butterflies) and we watched some fun dancing to some pretty great music.
~ I also love the market place. There is fresh fruit/veggies for sale from local farmers and flowers and pottery and so much else!  Every time I'm in Roanoke I try to visit the Star.  It's the largest man made star in the world. In the evening it lights up and it's fantastic! I love it.

~ After stopping in Roanoke, I headed down the the Atlanta area to visit some friends. My first stop was my lovely dear friend Stephanie and her two little boys.  Steph and I hadn't seen each other in almost 2 years!!!!  Since then she's had her second little boy, Vince.  I arrived with toys for the boys and flowers for mommie.  I brought the boys shovels (Vince is loving one of them in the pic below), buckets and squirt guns for bath time.  Steph tried to teach Frankie Jr how to use the squirt gun, but he didn't quite get the concept.  There was a HUGE accomplishment while visiting them ~ Vince crawled for the first time :) :) :) it was fabulous.
~  I then headed to meet some lovely ladies that I've known since I was 10 years old.  Janice and her daughter Lauren took me out to dinner and hosted me for a night. It was lovely to catch up (Lauren's engaged!!!!!) before heading to the Georgia Aquarium.

~ My last stop in Atlanta was in Peachtree City.  A good friend of my mom's lives there and they hosted me for a couple nights.  Peachtree City is a "planned community" and it is fabulous! I would totally live there one day.  Sue is retired and was able to enjoy her free time with me.  There is a neighboring town called Sonoia and it turns out that the TV Show The Walking Dead, along with a few movies, films there.  There is an official Walking Dead store with all sorts of souvenirs and props from the show.  One of my favorite movies was filmed there as well - Fried Green Tomatoes.  The main house is still in the town and it is now a bed and breakfast. Love it!

~ The World of Coca-Cola!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
~ You guys know how much I love my diet coke :)  Sue and I went into the downtown Atlanta area for the tour of the Happiest Place on Earth. We got our picture with the Coca-Cola bear, had a ride in the 4D movie experience, tasted coke products from all over the world (they all pretty much were gross), and so many incredible pieces of information and items from over the years. Did you know that coca-cola was bought for $2300 and then years later sold for $25million!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy Moly!
~ Back in the 1950's a "giant" 16oz Coca-Cola served 3 people! HAHAHAHA! Not today!

~ Last, but certainly not least, was my trip to Charlotte with my momma.  She met me down there for Memorial weekend and we had so much fun!  It turned out that NASCAR is down there (my bad for not knowing this) and the SpeedStreet 20 was going on.  It's basically a giant street festival celebrating NASCAR with entertainment (Thompson Square anyone), food trucks, games, and all sorts of things going on. It was definitely busy down there.
~ While down there we drove around to the different little neighborhoods that make up the Charlotte area. We also investigated the shopping scene out there. We approve!
~ Thanks to the street vendors I was able to get my annual funnel cake. Yum-O!

Vacation was pretty good.  Roanoke, World of Coca-Cola, great friends and Momma-Daughter Time. How can that be bad? :)  I will say that as much fun as I had, it's good to be back in my own bed in my lovely apartment. My next vacation will be on a boat or a beach or both! No more driving for me :)

Have a great weekend and don't forget to follow me on Bloglovin' and Instagram to keep up with my ongoings :)

Summer Movie Preview

You all know how much I love movies!  I have been slacking lately, but summer is right around the corner and I'm ready for some awesome movies.  Here are the movies I'm most excited about!

May 30th ~ *TOMORROW*
I'm so freaking excited about this movie.

June 6th
I love Emily Blunt and I love Tom Cruise (I always have). This movie looks complicated and thought provoking. I'm excited!

June 13th - Friday the 13th...spooooky!
Loved the first one and I have no doubt that this will be awesome!

June 27th
I worked on the first one (amazing experience) and have seen them all. The 4th one looks really good. I mean, hello, Mark Wahlberg is in it!

July 11th
I was really surprised with the first one and I thought it was really good.  I'm excited about this sequel. I have high hope for it.

July 18th - my dad's birthday.
I thoroughly enjoy a cheesy scary movie and this one will be even better than the first!

July 25th
Plus, I love Jason Segel :)

August 8th
The Live Action ~ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Yes, I'm a nerd :) How could I not be excited. My brother and I had the toys and the pizza thrower and I've seen all the old one and the cartoons. WooHoo!

August 8th
I don't know much about this movie, but it looks like an awesome 89 minute disaster movie!

August 27th
It wouldn't be the end of summer without a football movie!

What movies are you looking forward to this summer?

What I Wore

Happy Wednesday! I'm back and I'm blogging. I missed blogging while I was on vacation. I really missed it! I managed to get in a Godzilla Movie Review and some Inspiration in while I was gone. I thought that What I Wore Wednesday was a great way to come back, especially since today is my first day back to work (boo)! This outfit is an absolute staple in my closet.  I can wear the dress by itself, with a black jacket, or (what I've been doing lately) with this grey sweater. The pics are a bit fuzzy, so sorry about that! I am clearly not a professional photographer :(

The middle picture is my favorite, because I look so skinny! haha :)
I was sad, because the arm had a two holes in it.  Then it became one hole and it got really big!
While I was on vacation,  Dad did me a solid and patched it up with an awesome maroon patch.
Thanks dad!

An outfit isn't complete without an awesome pair of shoes! Can you tell that I love these flats? I wear them all the time!

Oh and a really good hair day :)

The dress is from The Loft and the grey sweater and coral flats are from Target

Inspiration For Your Thursday

Hey there everybody.  I'm still on vacation, but has that stopped me from surfing the world wide web of Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter? Nope! I recently startes following a Facebook page that posts inspirational quotes. There's also Mandy Hale who posts fabulous things for us single ladies who are looking for our "Prince Charming." Without further ado, here is some inspiration for your Thursday ~

King of Monsters or Our City's Savior?

I saw Godzilla over the weekend while I was home in Roanoke.  Take a look at the trailer, below and I'll tell you what I thought.  There are spoilers in what I say, so this is your warning.

Okay, folks.  I'll say it up front - I did enjoy it.  Is is Oscar worthy?...No.  Is it MTV Movie Awards worthy?...Not so much.  However, it was entertaining and fun.  I went into it thinking it's all about Godzilla.  Well, it turns out that Godzilla is the GOOD GUY!  That's right, I said it, he's the good guy.  The one we're actually depending on to save humanity. What the trailers don't show you is the creature that is out to destroy us all.

Meet M.U.T.O - a Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism.  It's a giant alien-ish looking praying mantis. Am I right?  Except for the praying mantis below looks like he belongs in a cabaret musical :)

Anywho...back to Muto.  It is a ginormous eight legged creature that reaches about 300 feet tall. This Muto guy has been sitting and stirring underground for 15 years feeding off of radioactive energy that makes him glow.  It's actually pretty cool.  Oh, did I mention he can fly?  Oh yeah, GIANT wings that are bat-like. Muto leaves Japan and is headed for San Francisco!  Of course the government wants to destroy everything, but here comes Godzilla to restore balance to the world.  Here's where the movie perturbed me a bit.

Now, you guys know that I'm all about the love story - romcoms, dramas, you name it. I love me a good Nicholas Sparks flick.  But this is a disaster movie. I want to see things get blown up and destroyed. That's it and all I want to see. I don't need the I love you's and the Come back to me's.  There is an awesome scene where Muto and Godzilla are about to fight for the first time and WE DON'T GET TO SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They close the doors on the civilians and we're inside with them. I'm glad everyone made it to safety, but I was totally bummed. There are some pretty bad ass battle scenes and you do see at least three cities get destroyed. I'm not going to tell you who/what gets destroyed or how, so you'll have to check it out yourself.

I recommend renting it when it comes to Netflix or Redbox.  It's 2 hours and 3 minutes long.  Over all I would give it a B-/C+.  If you have surround sound at home, even better!  Oh and this review if of my own opinion...I was not asked to view the film (except by my dad...but I wanted to see it too) or asked to write this.

Linking up with Lipgloss and Crayons & Still Being Molly for Funday Monday!

Vaca Friday

Yay for Friday and an even bigger Yay because I'm on vacation!!!!!!!! I hope you all have had a wonderful week and have fun plans for the weekend.

1. On Tuesday I had a very handsome friend over for dinner. He said,  "People that come to dinner usually bring wine, but I'm not your usual guy." Plus I don't drink anyways, so it all worked out swell :) He brought me the absolute cutest things I have ever seen.  They are called Itty Bitties and you can get them at Hallmark. Apparently there are tons to choose from and he brought me Dorothy and the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz. I LOVE The Wizard of Oz!

2. One of my fabulous friends is moving away. My dear friend Allison is heading to the west coast, Los Angeles, for her next adventure. I was able to spend some time with her and her cute little puppy, Timmy, this week. Allison created a Twitter account for Timmy. He's gping to tweet about their adventure across the country - @Timmy_the_Chi. Definitely check him out. He's so cute!

3. On my way to work this week I was running a bit late one day. Then I get to the alley where the garage is and there is a giant garbage truck in the way. I was super annoyed until I saw what was strapped onto the front of the truck ~ It totally took me back to Toy Story 3. Love it!!!

4. Well, now that mom knows I am able to share the next bit. I got a tattoo! Yes, this is a bit personal, but it's something I wanted to share with you. This wasn't something I did on a whim. I had been thinking about it for a while - since December.  I just wasn't really sure where I wanted to put it. The phrase "To thine own self be true" is my new mantra. Whenever I feel stuck or put into a situation that I'm not comfortable with sometimes I try to make everyone involved happy. I can't do that! I need to be honest with myself and do what's right for me. I love my tattoo...it's so pretty and girlie :)

5. This isn't necessarily a happy one, but it is a celebration of life. My Uncle Bill passed away this past week. He was such a sweetheart. My dad was able to go up to Ohio for the service and see family. Uncle Bill was a happy soul who lived a long wonderful life. Here's to you Bill!
My cousin's wedding on October 2011
