Stuck in a Rut?...I Hate That!

I spent most of yesterday catching up on my magazines and this is just a portion of them.  I read through 10 magazines!  I subscribe to Glamour, Self, O Magazine, and Real Simple.  Then, of course, I pick up others at the store when the cover strikes me.  For example InTouch with shit-bat-crazy Amanda Bynes on the cover and Women's Health with Keri Russell on the cover.

Out of the 10 magazines I ran over some really good articles that I want to share with you.  Seeing as how it's Monday (our favorite day of the week) I thought I would throw some info your way that might help you get out of a rut!

5 Foolproof Ways to Get out of a FunkMay 2013 issue of Real Simple

1.  Do the Chicken Dance ~ "Moving your body helps release negative emotions."
I mean, think about it!  When I hear Zac Brown Band's song Chicken Fried I get up and start dancing around and I feel so much better!  If you don't want to do the Chicken Dance you can try the Running Man or the Macarena.  You can even play some of your favorite songs REALLY LOUD!!!!  "If you don't release your emotions, sadness and helplessness will continue to pile on top of each other."

2.  Pay Attention ~ "For nearly 47 percent of our waking hours, our minds stray."  All day at times that you don't even think about.  For example - while we are brushing our teeth, showering, doing the dishes, and during anything else that doesn't require us to be fully present.  To get out of that kind of funk try participating in something that requires your full, 100%, attention.  Suggestions given are to take a new gym class or engage a colleague in a mind blowing conversation!

3.  Rent a Tearjerker ~ Surprisingly enough it increases our happiness.  Something with a sad ending, that is.  Titanic, Beaches, The Departed (although, some would say that has a happy ending b/c of what happens to Matt Damon, but I cry because of Leo...tear).  "Witnessing an onscreen tragedy also offers a glimmer of hope and a sense of transcendence about human existence.  It puts our daily troubles in perspective and makes us consider the deeper meaning of life."

4.  Look Out the Window ~ You never know what you'll see!  Squirrels chasing each other, a big beefy man walking a teen tiny puppy, or a cute old couple walking hand-in-hand as slow as molasses!  "Taking a moment to stop and simply observe the world in all its beauty and strangeness is one of the best ways I know to get perspective."

5.  Use Your Imagination ~ Just closer your eyes and be creative.  If you need a blank sheet of paper and a pencil to draw out your funk, go get it!  Sometimes "tapping into [your] imagination, the sense that anything is possible, is sometimes all it takes to re-energize."

I hope you all have a fabulous start to the week.  Tomorrow I'm talking about Mr. Hottness himself, Ryan Gosling.  Be sure to check it out.  Wednesday I'm getting UBER Personal!  Who know where the week will take me!
