Weekend Wrap Up

Hello October!

If it wasn't fall already, it definitely is now with October being here!

I had a great weekend and I hope you did too. This is the first time, in I don't know how long, that I've had a Saturday and Sunday off together. My weekend was very relaxed. Saturday, I met up with Jacqueline at Mackeys Sports Bar to watch Miami beat NC State. Last fall I went with Jacq all the time. It's always a lot of fun (especially when Miami wins). The rest of my Saturday was spent cleaning out my closet and organizing my DVDs. Now, I know that sounds lame, but it was more of a spacial thing. Now that I have a studio apartment, my space is limited. So, I decided to get my DVDs off of the shelves and put them in a big binder. My shelves are now holding more important things and my DVDs are organized (alphabetically).

Sunday I had brunch with some friends. I have lived in DC for 18 months and have never experienced brunch. DC is a BIG brunch city, but I'm usually working on Sundays at the hotel. We went to Shirlington and had brunch at Busboys and Poets. They have a few locations in Northern VA and DC. I had never been there before, but really enjoyed it. I had scrambled eggs and bacon with wheat toast and home fries. I also sneaked in a mimosa :)

I rented a few movies this weekend too, via Redbox.
On Saturday I rented "Think Like A Man" and "LOL." "TLAM" was really good. It reminded me of "He's Just Not That Into You." It was based off the book by Steve Harvey, "Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man." Unlike "HJNTIY," Steve Harvey's movie 'teaches' (and I use that word loosely) women how to capture and keep a man. I thought it was done well and much better than "He's Just Not That Into You." "LOL" was not so great. You've got Miley Cyrus playing a rebellious teenager who's mother is played by Demi Moore. It was okay. It reminded me more of the stuff Lindsay Lohan tried to do when she was still "working." On Sunday I rented "The Client List" and "Silent House." "The Client List" with Jennifer Love Hewitt was pretty good. It was a Lifetime movie that is now a Lifetime TV show. After I finished the move I actually tried to find the TV show online, but was not successful. I like JLH, she's cute and not a bad actress. "Silent House" I do not recommend. You think it's going to be a fun scary movie, but it turns out to be about a girl that was sexually abused by her father! BOO!

October 1st starts my "self challenge." Yeah, yeah....I've had many 'starts.' I have my first 5K in exactly 3 weeks. October 21st me, Lindsay, Nick, and my mom are doing the Color Run. You can walk it if you want to, but I want to run it! I am going to try and self train for it. I know a 5K is only 3.2 miles, but I really want to do this right. So, starting today I am not going to drink any alcohol and I am also going to track all of my calories. I am determined!!!! I downloaded an app on my phone called "My Fitness Pal."
It's a totally free app you can download on your iPhone or droid. You can log your food intake, how much water you drink, and what exercise you do. When you start it asks for your information and calculates everything for you. You put in your height, current weight, goal weight, and how much you want to lose a week. It's really cool! We shall see how it goes. I will keep you updated!

Have a wonderful Monday and until next time ~ *erica*
